Alexander Bolshunov and his comrades took gold for Russia in this race for the first time since 1980

The Russian team consisting of Alexei Chervotkin, Alexander Bolshunov, Denis Spitsov and Sergey Ustyugov won gold in the men’s relay at the Beijing Olympics, 4×10 km.

Second place Norway (Emil Iversen, Paul Gulberg, Hans Christer Holund, Johannes Klabo).

The third were the French (Richard Jouve, Hugo Lapalu, Clement Parisse, Maurice Manifica).

Olympic gold in this type of competition returned to the Russians after a break of 42 years. The last time Russian athletes won the 40 km relay was at the XIII Winter Olympics in Lake Placid (USA) in 1980.

Alexander Bolshunov as part of the Russian national team represents the Arkhangelsk region.
