The French naval frigate Auvergne, armed with guided missiles, entered the Black Sea. The Russian military has begun tracking the warship, the Russian National Defense Control Center said.

“The forces and means of the Black Sea Fleet have begun to control the actions of the Auvergne guided missile frigate of the French Navy, which entered the Black Sea,” the center said, cited by Russian agencies.

The frigate “Auvergne” (D654 Auvergne) is a multipurpose ship with missile and artillery weapons. It was launched in 2015. It is armed with an anti-ship missile system, which includes eight Exocet launch containers, as well as 16 cruise missiles with a range of up to 1,000 km.

The French frigate last week, December 10, took part in military exercises in Cyprus, Greece, France and Italy. The maneuvers were named PASSEX, they were attended by ships and aircraft.
