The Russians bombed a theater in Mariupol where hundreds of civilians hid from the fighting. This is reported by the municipality.

The municipality has released a picture of the ruined theater in the city center, after suffering severe damage from heavy bombing today. CNN located the scene and confirmed that the picture was real and it was indeed damaged.

The Mariupol municipality claimed that the Russians were “deliberately and cynically attacking a theater in the center of Mariupol. The plane threw a bomb at the building where hundreds of peace-loving citizens took refuge.”

“It is impossible to assess the damage that this inhuman act has caused, because the civilian areas in the city continue to be bombed. It is known that after the bombing, the central part of the theater was destroyed, and the entrance to the collection was destroyed,” the municipality added.

Mariupol says that at the moment the number of casualties is still unclear: “Those who remain in the city are women, children and adults, they are unarmed people who have done nothing. We will never forget or be forgiven for that.”

An adviser to the mayor of Mariupol, Petro Andirushchenko, said that according to initial information, more than 1,000 people were hiding in the theater, but the number of dead and wounded is still unknown. He added that it would be very difficult to get to the place following the incessant bombings.

To date, more than 2,500 people have been killed in the city, according to reports in Ukraine. The Russians bomb the port city non-stop, in an attempt to cut off the Ukrainians from access to the Black Sea.

“Stop the invasion immediately”

Meanwhile, the International Court of Justice in The Hague is calling on Russia to end its invasion of Ukraine on the grounds that it has no justification for doing so. The Hague said there was no evidence of Russian allegations that Ukraine was committing “genocide” in the separatist districts of Honsk and Donetsk, one of the allegations that was an “excuse” for the invasion.

“Unprecedented” aid package

Against the backdrop of the fighting and after Zalanski’s speech in Congress, US President Biden has announced that he will provide an untold aid package to Ukraine worth about $ 800 million. Among other things, the Americans will provide UAVs and additional military equipment.
