Russian athletes Gulnaz Gubaidullina and Alexander Lifanov were forced to interrupt the mixed relay at the World Modern Pentathlon Championships in Cairo due to horse problems, according to the website of the Russian Federation of Modern Pentathlon (FSPR). But the failure in horseback riding dashed the hopes of our duet for medals, ”the FSPR said in a statement.
“Unfortunately, we withdrew from the competition. Sasha’s horse turned out to be completely inadequate, turned over twice with the rider, closed up and passed 0 points. With Sasha, almost everything is in order! Thanks to everyone who supported and kept their fists for us! The main battle lies ahead, ”Ms. Gubaidullina wrote on Instagram.
South Koreans Seo Changwan and Kim Sehi won the mixed relay. At the World Championships in Cairo, the Russians won gold and two silver medals.
