In compliance with the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers regarding austerity measures in 2025, it is also planned to limit the remuneration fund in the Saeima to the same extent as in other state administration institutions. Among them, it is planned to apply the limitation of salary increase to MPs’ salaries as well.

Also, 20% less funds compared to 2024 are planned in the budget for the compensation of members of the Saeima for transport and residential rental services. This is due to the fact that fewer MPs are requesting compensation than previously planned.

The administration of the Parliament states that the Saeima has already taken optimization measures, as a result of which the staff list was reduced by 45 positions, including a 16% reduction in the number of employees related to administrative functions.

In general, as a result of the optimization, savings of more than 0.5 million euros have been created, the parliament states, emphasizing that the optimization of functions provides an opportunity to restructure resources for the implementation of priority projects without requiring additional state budget funds.
