The Safer Internet League has received several complaints from parents in connection with the launch of The Squid Game on Netflix. After that, the organization turned to expert psychologists with a request to check the series, said the director of the league, a member of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation, Yekaterina Mizulina. According to her, many are concerned about the release of the series, because “some viewers, especially young people, may be tempted to repeat scenes from The Squid Game.”
“We asked expert psychologists to give their assessment. We are waiting for their conclusion, ”Ms. Mizulina wrote in her Telegram channel.
In her opinion, it is worth discussing with online cinemas how to restrict underage users access to films of the 18+ category. “If it is possible in principle, which I personally doubt,” added Ekaterina Mizulina.
The Squid Game is about a secret survival game in which people risk their lives to win a cash prize. The series first aired on Netflix on September 17, and a week later came out on top in views.
