The subject of the reports of Epirus regional governor Alexandros Kahrimanis at the meeting of the Regional Committee on the dangerousness of Egnatia Road due to insufficient maintenance reached the Parliament, despite the reconstruction of what he said and the attempt to present it as a private discussion, the content of which was inflated and distorted.
Repair, which is not only due to the order of the Prosecutor of Primary Ioannina for a preliminary examination, but – according to confirmed information – also to an extrajudicial letter sent by “Egnatia Odos SA”, in which Mr. Kahrimanis attributed the responsibility of leaving the highway and surface maintenance.
The MP N. Prevezas of SYRIZA Progressive Alliance Kostas Barkas proceeded to submit a question and a request to submit documents to the Parliament to the Minister of Infrastructure & Transport, which is co-signed by 14 other MPs of SYRIZA, raising a series of issues, which concern not only the specific reports of Al. Kahrimani, but in general the safe use of the road axis.
“The very serious complaints of the governor of Epirus cause serious concern for road safety, as this is the largest highway in the country, through which thousands of cars pass every day. The references of Mr. Regional Governor to Egnatia Odos and its danger, as well as the need to close the tunnel in the section from Metsovo to Panagia, are extremely serious and should be immediately clarified by the relevant authorities”, notes Kostas Barkas, asking the minister the following questions:
-Does the Ministry of Infrastructure & Transport intend to immediately send a competent team, in order to check the Egnatia Odos highway in the region of Epirus?
-Does the Ministry of Infrastructure & Transport intend to publish an expert opinion, in order to confirm the safe crossing of Egnatia Street in Epirus?
-What measures does the Ministry of Infrastructure & Transport intend to take, in case the safe crossing checks of the Egnatia Road in Epirus are negative?
-In what ways will the Ministry guarantee the public interest and by extension the functionality and safety of Egnatia Road?
-The Ministry of Infrastructure & Transport has made sure that the management company Egnatia S.A., which, after a tender, commissioned and received the Public Property Development Fund (TAIPED), the study on the risk of all the Egnatia Road tunnels ;
At the same time, Mr. Barkas requests the minister to submit to the body of the Parliament a copy of the study commissioned and received by the Public Private Property Development Fund (TAIPED) on the dangerousness of all the tunnels of Egnatia Street.
