The Saica Group reaffirms its commitment to it responsible waste managementafter joining the initiative Cardboard box.

It’s about SCRAP (Cooperative Program of Extended Producer Responsibility) promoted by the associations of the value chain of the paper and cardboard industry in Spain, of which Saica is part: AFCO (Association of Manufacturers of Corrugated Cardboard Containers and Packaging) , ASPAPEL ( Spanish Association) of Pulp, Paper and Cardboard Producers), ASPACK (Association of Manufacturers of Containers, Packaging and Cardboard Processing) and REPACAR (Spanish Association of Paper and Cardboard Recyclers).

Circle cardboard represents the most effective model so that companies that sell their products using industrial packaging can adapt to the new legislative framework for packaging management.

Through this merger, through which the company adds 7 companies and 19 manufacturing plants in Spain to Cartón Circular, the Saica Group reaffirms its commitment to share economy, ensuring proper management and assurance of the packaging used in your business environments at the end of its useful life. Furthermore, the organization complies with the national law, which comes from a local directive.

Essentially, the word law establishes it as the ultimate goal prevent and reduce impact of these wastes in the environment. To this end, the law, which was approved in Spain by Royal Decree in December 2022, establishes measures intended to prevent the production of packaging waste, its recycling, recycling, cleaning and, therefore, reducing your final clearance.

In addition to achieving the goals of collection and recycling of the equipment box set by the European Union for 2030, joining the Circular Carton serves as a way for the Saica Group to show once again that the circular economy is its reason for being and its driving force to achieve a more responsible production model.

So, Saica takes back paper and cardboard waste, and recycles it again and again into production scale. We recycle this waste in our factories, to turn it into 100% recycled paperwhich in turn gives rise to new packaging in cardboard materials (paper and cardboard rolls).

Saica recycles low density polyethylene (LDPE) waste and turns it into givingwhich is then used in sectors such as packaging, construction, agriculture or practice in the form of recycled film, thus reducing the virgin pellets consumed by your customers (low density polyethylene roll).

Saica gives a second life to non-hazardous waste generated in the paper factories themselves. This waste is used as fuel to generate thermal energy necessary for the production process or to generate electricity that is transmitted to the grid, replacing natural gas (energy recovery from waste).

The Saica Group encourages all industrial companies that have not yet done so to follow its example, join Cartón Circular and thus contribute to a more sustainable packaging production in the marketing of their products.
