Teachers, including managers, received an average gross monthly salary of 49,867 crowns last year. They rose by 3.45 percent year-on-year, so they took about 115 percent of last year’s average wage in the Czech Republic. Non-teaching staff in regional education had an average gross monthly income of 29,070 crowns, 9.65 percent higher than a year earlier. It follows from the data of the Ministry of Education.
The average salary in the Czech Republic last year was 43,341 crowns. In a year-on-year comparison, it was 3,024 crowns more, i.e. 7.5 percent. Consumer prices increased by 10.7 percent last year, which is why wages decreased by 2.9 percent in real terms, according to preliminary data from the Czech Statistical Office.
This year, according to the amendment approved last year, teachers are to receive 130 percent of the average gross salary in the Czech Republic. For this year, the amount is calculated from the average wage in 2022, which was 40,317 crowns according to the Czech Statistical Office.
In the past, the Ministry informed that the regional education budget, which it sent to schools at the beginning of February, provides teachers with such an average salary. According to his calculations, it should be 52,412 crowns this year. Compared to last year, according to the ministry, this is an average increase of 2,500 crowns. The office expects an average monthly salary of 45,369 crowns for kindergarten teachers, 54,488 crowns for primary school teachers and 55,392 crowns for secondary school teachers.
Kindergarten teachers had the lowest salaries among teachers last year, according to the Ministry’s data, their average earnings were 41,028 crowns. Secondary school teachers earned an average of 54,431 crowns, teachers in higher vocational schools had an average of 56,398 crowns, and teachers in primary schools 52,119 crowns.
The average gross monthly salary of non-pedagogues, i.e. cleaners, cooks, janitors, but also technical staff, including managers, was 29,070 crowns. Those who worked in kindergartens took the least, where their average salary was 24,871 crowns. In secondary schools, non-teachers earned an average of 34,615 crowns per month. Pedagogical workers, which include, for example, teaching assistants or school psychologists, earned an average of 46,514 crowns gross.
