The assistant coach of the Al-Karkh team, Ahmed Abdul-Jabbar, confirmed that the scenario of his team’s match with Al-Zawraa, which took place for the second round of the Stars League, which it lost by two goals to one, was very difficult, as we are playing against a big team like Al-Zawraa.
Abdul-Jabbar said in a statement to the Sport Today program, which was broadcast by the Iraqi News Channel and followed by the (INA): “In the first ten minutes of the match, the Al-Karkh team was subjected to two penalty kicks, with five of our defenders given yellow cards, which led to playing with extreme caution for fear.” from expulsion.
He added, “These events greatly affected our players, who did not perform at the required level, especially since they were playing against Al-Zawraa, on its home field, and in front of its large fans, but the good thing is that Al-Karkh was able to return to the match by scoring the equalizing goal.”
He explained, “Our start to the match was bad, and Al-Zawra’a’s second goal came at a fatal time, indicating that the rush did not enable our players to exploit the constant mistakes we made in addition to the unjustified retreat that caused Al-Zawraa to take control of the match.”
