» The scenario of the Sant’Omero Emergency Department: patients waiting for 10 hours

by time news

Even the spare stretchers have run out

While the regional councilor of the PD, Sandro Mariani, was in Giulianova yesterday for an impromptu visit to ascertain the situation of the Emergency Room, finding understaffed health workers and overcrowding of patients, the same scene was taking place in the hospital structure of Sant’Omero.
We found ourselves personally in the Vibratian hospital and the conditions were certainly not better.
A waiting room full of people who had been queuing since 8 in the morning and still hadn’t been treated at 6 pm. Is a Green Code still worth such a long time to receive assistance? And the Yellow Code who still found himself waiting for hours?
The fault is not of the medical staff, in lower numbers even compared to a tourist season that necessarily leads to having to deal with even more people going to hospital facilities. We also add that many, due to the period, find it difficult to contact their doctor. Others still try to contact the single medical emergency number, but this too is overcrowded due to the presence of only one doctor who can therefore answer one call at a time.
Yesterday the hospital in Vibrata even ran out of spare stretchers. There were also moments of tension when several people in the waiting room began to inveigh against the medical staff for having to wait too long before receiving treatment.
Citizens, as well as healthcare workers who are the first to try to stem the problem, want immediate and concrete answers to safeguard a delicate issue such as healthcare.
