A fight between ninth-graders in Makhachkala Lyceum No. 51, which happened on Monday morning, ended with the death of one of them from a knife wound. A 15-year-old teenager who stabbed a classmate in the chest with a knife became a defendant in a murder criminal case. The authorities have already reacted to the crime committed within the walls of the school, and the director and head teacher of the school, as well as the heads of the security company, have become involved in new criminal cases.

The incident happened at about eleven in the morning on Monday 11 October. In the backyard of the school, two ninth grade students fought. One of them had a knife with him. As he said after what happened during the interrogation, he bought a weapon a year ago in some shop without any special purpose: “Everyone has it, I also have it”. The knife was lying around at home, but a couple of days ago it ended up in the owner’s pocket: “I don’t remember how.” He skipped classes for several days, and on Monday, when he came to school, “when the fight broke out, in a state of passion he got [нож] and hit ”, said the suspect, clearly preparing the necessary wording before recording the video.

The wounded schoolboy rushed to run to the school medical room, but, losing strength, fell.

However, judging by the video that was filmed during the conflict by classmates, the fight ended before it could start – the guy with the knife immediately stabbed his opponent in the chest. Judging by the stories of the initiates, the emergency was not a matter of chance and the conflict between schoolchildren had a long history.

The Makhachkala authorities also reacted to the tragedy at the Lyceum. The press service of the head of Dagestan said that the head of the republic, Sergei Melikov, was promptly reported about the incident. He expressed condolences to the family and friends of the deceased boy. On his behalf, the Ministry of Education and Science created a commission to conduct an inspection and clarify all the circumstances of the incident. “The government of Dagestan and the relevant department have been instructed to prepare proposals to improve the level of safety in schools,” the press service said.

And the republic’s ombudsman for the rights of the child, Marina Yezhova, reported that the murder suspect had long been a problematic ward. “The boy is difficult, initially problematic. He was already in the field of vision of both teachers and psychologists, he studied poorly, there were problems with behavior, she told TASS.

At the same time, the teenager’s family cannot be classified as dysfunctional, added Ms. Yezhova: “The family is complete, there is no pronounced social or material distress, it is the only child in the family.”

In the ICR, immediately after the incident, and the news of the initiation of a case against the murder suspect, it was reported that a legal assessment would be given to the actions of officials from among the school’s management.

A few more hours later, the news about the initiation of criminal cases against the heads of the lyceum and the private security company, with which he had concluded an agreement, followed.

The case against the school director and the deputy director for educational work was initiated under Art. 293 (negligence) of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. Both of them were fired from their jobs, the Makhachkala mayor’s office reported towards the end of the working day. The heads of a private security company were charged with providing services that do not meet the requirements of the safety of life or health of consumers (Article 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).
