The search was still in progress on Monday June 26 to find a woman who disappeared following the very strong explosion of undetermined origin which destroyed a building on Wednesday rue Saint-Jacques in Paris, reported the prosecution and the Prefecture of police.
Operations were temporarily interrupted this weekend to reinforce the solidity of an adjoining building. “The consolidation of the premises has allowed the search to continue this weekend”said the Paris police headquarters.
The person sought in the rubble is a woman, a professor at the Paris American Academy, a school specializing in fashion, according to sources familiar with the matter. In a press release published Friday evening, the Paris prosecutor’s office announced that four people were “always in absolute urgency”. It was not possible to know more about their condition on Monday.
Investigation for unintentional injuries
The prosecution had counted 54 other victims, who, for “Most suffer from minor injuries or psychological shock”et “48 other people [qui] have come forward as being involved, i.e. likely to have suffered damage”. “The first witnesses evoke a smell of gas”had confirmed the prosecution, which did not provide details on this point on Monday.

The facts occurred Wednesday shortly before 5 p.m. at 277, rue Saint-Jacques, an artery in the center of the capital. An explosion followed by a fire caused the collapse of a 17th century pavilion, listed as a historic monument, which bordered the main courtyard of the former Val-de-Grâce abbey and housed a private fashion school, the Paris American Academy.
The Paris public prosecutor’s office has opened an investigation into involuntary injuries resulting in total incapacity for work for more than three months by manifestly deliberate violation of an obligation of prudence or safety. The third district of the judicial police of Paris was seized of the investigations.
