Kochi: The shocking human sacrifice in Kerala was unraveled from the crucial CCTV footage, the police said. It was very difficult to gather information from Shafi, a notorious criminal. But Kochi DCP Sasidharan said in a press conference that it was brought out on the basis of investigative strategies and evidence.
“Sometimes when you hear the details of a case, you feel that there is a mystery in it. It happened in this case too. Shafie denied everything in the initial stage. Later he confessed to the crime. The investigation team scoured the area from Kadavantra to Tiruvalla and took CCTV footage and found accurate information. During the inspection, a blurry image was obtained, from which the case developed to this point.
In the first phase, they handed over three lakhs to Shafi. Again the money has been paid. But the investigation is going on. Knives and machetes were used for the murder. The weapons are yet to be investigated. It is said that they have financial obligations. But this also needs to be clarified. There are eight more cases against Shafi. A book was found in this house. Will check whether it is related to witchcraft. More research is needed for definitive answers. DCP Sasidharan added that clear answers will be given.
