In a statement to MAP, the head of the ABHS communication and partnership department, Mohamed Serghini, affirmed that this initiative is organized every year as part of the Agency’s efforts to raise awareness about the importance of water, given the difficult situation that Morocco has been experiencing in terms of water stress over the past seven years.
“This year, the activity targeting the holiday camps of Imouzzer-Kandar and Ifrane, benefited children aged 7 to 14 from different regions of Morocco, in partnership with the regional directorate of Youth, Culture and Communication,” he added.
For his part, the director of the water awareness caravan, Adil Mahour, indicated that this caravan aims to raise awareness to end water wastage in the country, noting that this is the first digital awareness caravan in Morocco, which will benefit a large number of children (5000 to 6000) from different cities in Morocco, throughout the summer holidays in Imouzzer-Kandar.
Launched under the theme “rational use of water, everyone’s responsibility”, this campaign aims to raise awareness among children of the need to save water and rationalize its use as a strategic resource.
The event, which is part of the ongoing process of raising awareness of the importance of preserving water resources and rationalizing their use, also aims to sensitize young people to the proper management of water resources in order to contribute to the emergence of a responsible generation concerned with preserving this precious resource.
This caravan, organized in cooperation and coordination with local authorities as well as the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication in the provinces of Sefrou and Ifrane, will also benefit the municipal campsite of Imouzzer (July 30) and the Ras El Maa camp in Ifrane (July 31).
The Agency said it used a variety of diverse and varied means of communication to make the campaign a success, including printing and distributing posters and brochures.
This caravan will also include the organization of animation activities, workshops on the digital space and cultural competitions for the benefit of children with important information on how to rationalize water consumption and encourage them to contribute to the preservation of water resources.
According to the Agency, Morocco has been living for six years in a “difficult situation” characterized by the scarcity of water resources and water stress due to the lack of precipitation and the growing demand for this vital substance, subject to overexploitation, the risks of pollution and the various effects of climate change.
