The second person convicted in the case of the murder of the Bulgarian border police officer Petar Bachvarov – Mustafa Erguvan was sentenced to 12 years in prison for attempted murder and 6 months for injuring a patrol woman.

In November 2022, while performing his official duties of guarding the state border, he was shot by the other brother, Engin Erguvan.

For the murder, Engin received a life sentence for the murder of Petar Bachvarov, 12 years in prison for the attempted murder of his colleague Rashko Rashkov, as well as 6 months for damaging the official car of the Bulgarian border police.

Mustafa Erguvan, who was with his brother on the border furrow, was initially sentenced to probation, but the Edirne Court’s decision was appealed to the Istanbul Court of Appeal.

It is now clear that the Istanbul court returned the case to Edirne because the magistrates disagreed with Mustafa’s sentence and demanded a harsher punishment.

The court in Edirne sat yesterday, writes bTV. The magistrates upheld Engin’s convictions and sentenced his brother Mustafa to 12 years in prison for attempted murder and 6 months for damaging a company car, batiekspres.com reports.
