“A strong storm in the water area of ​​Gagra again caused a tragedy on the water. At 17 hours 45 minutes, a message was received that a resident of Pyatigorsk, Rostislav Petrov, born in 2000, had drowned. Another tourist who tried to save Petrov was barely able to get out of the sea alive, ”the message says.

Earlier, the department reported that on the night of July 4, a resident of Saratov Pavel Dankov drowned in the water area of ​​Gagra. The Ministry of Emergency Situations of Abkhazia added that, according to eyewitnesses, he swam in three-meter waves. In addition, a Russian tourist almost drowned this morning: “by a lucky chance she was carried by a wave to the shore, and the girl was pulled out of the water.”

“The Ministry of Emergency Situations of Abkhazia urges the citizens of the republic and guests of Abkhazia to be extremely careful while on the shores of a stormy sea and in no case make extremely risky and dangerous attempts to swim in a storm,” the department added.
