The Ministry of Interior in the National Unity Government stated, in a statement on its official Facebook page, that the committee met with officials in the Tunisian Border Police Department yesterday, Sunday, in the presence of the Libyan Consul in Sfax and members of the Customs Authority, to prepare arrangements for the flow of transit traffic between the two countries, and to establish a mechanism for registering passing vehicles. The two sides agreed to resume work at the port after completing maintenance work in accordance with international standards for land crossings, while adhering to the legislation in force in the two countries regarding combating smuggling, and opening several corridors for passengers and goods.
Yesterday, Sunday, Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dabaiba discussed with the Interior Minister-designate Imad Trabelsi the measures taken to reopen the crossing, where the latter reviewed the necessary steps to secure and operate the crossing.
Al-Trabelsi confirmed that the work of the Administrative Centers Development Authority is continuing to develop the main entrances, equip the port with all its needs, and install and operate five large scanners.
