The Senate approved the draft cybercrime law after making amendments to it

Today, Sunday, the Legal Committee in the Senate approved the draft cybercrime law for the year 2023, as reported by the House of Representatives, after making a number of amendments to it.

This came during a meeting held by the committee today, part of which was chaired by Acting Senate Speaker Samir Al-Rifai, in the presence of the head of the legal committee, Ahmed Tbeishat, and members of the committee.

The meeting was also attended by Ministers of Political and Parliamentary Affairs, Engineer Wajih Azaiza, Minister of Justice, Dr. Ahmed Ziyadat, Minister of Digital Economy, Ahmed Al Hanandeh, and Minister of Legal Affairs, Dr. Nancy Namrouqa.

The meeting was also attended by the head of the cybercrime unit at the Public Security Directorate, Anas al-Halahleh, along with fellow President of the Journalists Syndicate Rakan al-Saaida and a number of members of the Syndicate Council, and the President of the Lawyers Syndicate Yahya Abu Abboud, in addition to Nahla al-Momani from the National Center for Human Rights, and a number of jurists, media professionals and experts.

The committee’s approval of the draft law came after it reviewed in two morning and evening sessions, during which it discussed a number of articles of the law, and listened to various opinions and points of view on them.
