by time news

“Health is a priority for the governments of the fourth⁤ conversion and‍ it is the obligation of⁣ the State to ensure the ⁣health security of its ⁣population, which is why⁤ in the Senate we⁢ will ⁤support ‍this week ⁢the constitutional reform to prohibit the use ⁢of vaping devices in Mexico”: the senator said. Antonino Morales Toledo.

The Zapotec legislator assured that beyond the so-called right to decide, the health⁢ of Mexicans who approach this type of substances contained in these products is above all,as⁣ ther is scientific‍ evidence of the damage they ⁤cause to the population.

The senator who is a member of the Second Legislative Studies Commission referred to a study carried out by the Federal Commission for the Protection against Health Risks (Cofepris),⁤ and the National ‍Commission against‍ Addictions (Conadic), according to which the use of vapers is the cause of respiratory damages such as chronic obstructive pulmonary ‌disease (COPD), asthma, cancer ⁣and changes in blood circulation.

“It is imperative to bring ‍the prohibition to ⁣the Constitution, because ⁢in the government of Mr. ‌Andrés Manuel López Obrador, companies protected ⁢themselves against two decrees issued and the Supreme Court agreed with them, so the ‌legal reform had no effect,” he highlighted.

In that sense, nino Morales ⁣mentioned that, according to ⁣the study of these organizations, the substances with which vapes are used contain important levels ‍of metals ⁤such as ‍cadmium, nickel, lead and others that are highly harmful to health.

But, in addition, a cartridge “contains 5%‍ nicotine salt is equivalent to between one and three packs of cigarettes. these ⁣high concentrations of ‍nicotine have long-term adverse effects on the brain ⁣development of boys, girls, adolescents and developing fetuses,” said Antonino Morales Toledo.

The reforms to articles 4 and 5 of the ‍Constitution ⁤state that to guarantee the right to protection of people’s health, the⁤ law will ⁢sanction all activities related to electronic cigarettes, vaping devices and other similar ⁣systems‌ or devices.

The production, distribution and disposal of toxic substances,⁤ chemical precursors,⁣ the‍ illicit use of fentanyl and‍ other unauthorized synthetic drugs will ‍also be punished.

What are the main health risks associated with vaping that‍ influenced Senator Morales’ support for the ⁢ban in‍ Mexico?

Interview with Senator Antonino Morales⁢ Toledo ‍on the Vaping Ban in Mexico

Time.news ‌Editor: Thank you for joining us today,Senator Morales. Recently, you’ve highlighted the importance of⁤ health in the context of vaping in ⁤Mexico. Can you explain your motivations behind supporting the constitutional reform too prohibit ⁣the use of ‌vaping devices?

Senator Morales: Thank you‍ for ⁢having me. Health is a priority for our government, especially as we face mounting evidence regarding the dangers of vaping. Our obligation as⁢ a state is⁣ to ensure the⁢ health security of our population. The scientific studies presented⁢ by the Federal⁣ Commission for the Protection‌ against health Risks (Cofepris) and the ‍national‌ commission ⁣against Addictions (Conadic) are clear:⁣ vaping is‍ linked to severe health risks, including chronic obstructive pulmonary ⁣disease (COPD), asthma, and even cancer.

Time.news⁢ Editor: That’s ⁢a serious‍ assertion. Could you elaborate on⁢ the studies you’ve referenced regarding the health impacts of vaping?

Senator⁣ Morales: Certainly. The studies indicate that substances found ⁢in vaping⁢ products contain harmful metals⁤ such as cadmium, nickel, and lead. Additionally, one cartridge can hold 5% nicotine salt, which is equivalent to consuming between one⁣ and three packs of cigarettes. These high concentrations are notably risky for the brain development of children and adolescents, which is why it is crucial for ‌us to act decisively.

Time.news Editor: The argument for individual rights has been a point of contention regarding⁢ vaping. How do you reconcile individual choice with public health concerns?

Senator Morales: While the right to decide for oneself is essential, it dose not supersede⁤ the duty of the government to protect its citizens, especially vulnerable ⁣populations like children. The health ⁢risks associated with vaping are alarming, and we believe that our citizens must be safeguarded from these dangers. So, bringing this prohibition into the Constitution is imperative, particularly in light of previous legal protections granted to companies that sell these products.

Time.news editor: You mentioned legislative challenges in ⁤the past. What specifically changed with the proposed constitutional reforms that you believe will be ‍more effective?

Senator Morales: In the⁢ previous administration under andrés Manuel López Obrador, we faced legal hurdles where‌ companies successfully challenged two decrees regarding ‌vaping. The supreme Court sided with them, ‌rendering those legal actions ineffective. By enshrining⁢ the⁣ prohibition in the Constitution, we‍ hope to create a stronger legal foundation that cannot be easily overturned and will ensure compliance across the ‌board.

Time.news Editor: What do you ⁣see as the next steps following the implementation of these reforms?

Senator morales: Once we⁤ secure legislative approval for these constitutional changes, the⁣ law will go into effect, which will also address related issues such ‍as the production ⁢and⁣ distribution⁤ of toxic substances and illegal drugs like fentanyl. We‍ plan to establish strict penalties for any contraventions, thereby ⁣sending a clear message about the seriousness ‍of this health⁢ crisis.

Time.news Editor: for our readers who might⁢ potentially be involved in the vaping industry or might use these products, what ⁤practical⁢ advice ⁢would you offer them moving forward?

Senator Morales: I urge those involved in‌ the vaping industry to prepare for a⁢ transition⁣ toward safer products that comply with public health⁤ standards. For consumers, I strongly advise you to stay informed about the⁢ health risks associated ⁣with ⁢vaping. We need⁢ to ⁢prioritize the health of our‌ future generations by making informed choices and supporting ‍health-kind policies.

Time.news Editor: Thank you for your insights, Senator Morales. It’s clear that this issue requires continued conversation⁢ and action ⁢to safeguard public health in Mexico.

Senator Morales: Thank ‌you for the chance. Maintaining⁣ our focus on health will ultimately lead us toward a healthier future for‍ all ⁤Mexicans.
