In the background of the exchange, Defense Minister Amr Bar Lev is expected to approve two senior appointments at the rank of sub-superintendent in the police tomorrow. This is the commander of the Judea and Samaria region of the border guard and the cyber supervisor, who was chosen by the detection committee.
Earlier today, Ben Gvir addressed Beharev Miara in an urgent letter, and demanded to order a curfew on all appointments in the police. In the letter, the person designated for the position of Minister of National Security claimed: “The Commissioner and the Minister of Internal Security are secretly appointing senior police officers on the eve of the new government’s entry.”
In his letter, Ben Gvir added that his appeal came “following the very problematic conduct that is taking place these days in the Ministry of Internal Security, and an attempt to put the appointed Minister of National Security in front of fait accompli.” According to him, “this conduct is contrary to the commissioner’s previous statement in which he made it clear that at this time, on the eve of an elected minister entering the ministry, it would not be correct to make changes, including the appointment of senior police officers.”
In his letter, Ben Gvir warned that despite the statement not to make changes, including the appointments, the outgoing Minister of Internal Security and the commissioner intend to hold a rank awarding ceremony this Thursday and present the appointed minister with facts.
