The share of the dollar in Russia’s international reserves decreased by mid-2021

From June 30, 2020 to June 30, 2021, the Central Bank of Russia reduced the share of the dollar in the country’s international reserves in favor of the euro, yuan and pound sterling. So, the share of the dollar in the international reserves of the Russian Federation for the year decreased to 16.4% from 22.2%,%, the euro – increased to 32.3% from 29.5%, the yuan – by 0.9 percentage points, to 13, 1%, the pound sterling increased by 0.6 percentage points, to 6.5%. This is stated in the report (.pdf) of the regulator.

“During the period under review, the value of the Bank of Russia assets in foreign currencies and gold increased by $ 24.3 billion and amounted to $ 585.3 billion. foreign counterparties at the reporting date, as well as interest income and revaluation of securities, ”the report says.

The share of gold in reserves decreased by 1.2 percentage points to 21.7%.

At the end of December, the volume of international reserves of Russia amounted to $ 626.3 billion, reaching a record.
