FAJAR.CO.ID, LONDON—Arsenal and Liverpool stumbled surprisingly at home in the 32nd Premier League match. Arsenal humiliated Aston Villa. Meanwhile, Liverpool was crushed by Crystal Palace.
These results mean that Manchester City is now in control of the Premier League champions. With 73 points, they are two points ahead of Arsenal and Liverpool.
With only six matches left and no more head to head meetings, Arsenal Manager, Mikel Arteta is resigned to Manchester City defending their title this season.
“We can’t control it (Manchester City). In any other league in the world, if you won as many games in a row as we did, you would be six or eight points clear. That’s not the case here. That’s the challenge, ” Arteta told Sky Sports.
Arteta himself admitted that he was very disappointed. “We’re obviously very disappointed with the result, especially with our performance. The first half was one of the best halves we’ve played this season against a top team. We could have scored three, four, five, we didn’t score. It was a terrible defeat it hurts,” he said on the BBC’s Match of the Day.
Meanwhile, Liverpool manager Juergen Klopp admitted he was surprised they couldn’t break down Crystal Palace’s goal. In last night’s match, they did have several open opportunities in front of goal which Crystal Palace players miraculously saved.
“We had a bigger chance than Curtis Jones. We had Darwin’s chance [Nunez]. He kicked the ball at full speed. Similar to Diogo Jota, Mohamed Salah’s chance hit a Palace player. It was horrendous, but we didn’t score there,” Jurgen Klopp told Sky Sports of his team’s missed opportunities:
