Early in the morning (Sunday), inspectors from the Real Estate Enforcement Authority arrived with engineering tools and accompanied by police forces and demolished the ‘shopping complex’ near the Tanna Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai on Mount Meron.
The compound – Teller compound – was demolished with safety deficiencies and after being built without a permit on state land, contrary to plan and operated without a valid business license.
The authority stated: “The demolition was carried out in accordance with an order given by the Magistrate’s Court, and after the appellants’ appeal was rejected by the district court while they determined that there is a special public interest in the demolition of the building.
As you may recall, last month the authority demolished the ‘Tedji Kitchen’ complex and the ‘Carlebachach’ guest buildings. The authority claimed that: “The enforcement actions taken in recent months have enabled the safety and development work currently being done on the mountain and the authority is accelerating its activities at the site in order to remove the few offenses left before the upcoming revelry.”
