This Wednesday, June 21, the winners of the 33rd edition of the Toribio Echevarria Awards will be announced. The jury is currently evaluating the 32 nominations received in different categories – 27 from Gipuzkoa, 3 from Bizkaia and two from Álava – eighteen of which have been presented in the ‘Ideas/Business Projects’ category, and the remaining eleven for the ‘New Business’ award. In addition, four will have the opportunity to participate in the special ‘Eibar Company’ awards given by the City Council. Finally, on July 5, the prizes will be distributed at the event held at Tekniker.
On the other hand, in terms of sectors, 12 are related to new technologies, 10 to biology/health, 7 to industry and sustainability, two to advanced manufacturing and the last one belongs to another sector.
The acting mayor of Eibar, Jon Iraola, stated: “These awards show that Eibar City Council has made a strong commitment to entrepreneurship and technological innovation, as a strategy to diversify and revitalize companies; in fact, these strategies make it possible to advance in the improvement of industry, to create employment, and therefore to improve the quality of life of citizens.’ And, in this respect, “we can say that we are very healthy in entrepreneurship, because year after year, with the Toribio Echevarria awards, we receive projects and ideas of high innovative and technological value”
The winners of the two mentioned categories will receive a cash prize of 10,500 euros, and the opportunity to participate in the support, financing, consulting, mentoring and training programs that are essential for the development of these projects through the organization BIC Gipuzkoa.
