During the anti-discrimination movement, Indian Bengali cinema actress Srilekha Mitra was active on social media on behalf of Bangladeshi students. The eastern part of Bangladesh has been devastated by a sudden severe flood. Eight districts of the country including Feni, Noakhali, Comilla, Chittagong have been affected.

The post says, ‘Send a message to Bangladesh, friends. Abalvarddhavanita is drowning in water, houses are washed away, towns are under water. Everyone is sitting in the unsanitary Ghinji camp waiting for the riots to happen again. Please embrace the cries of the newborn and the laughter of the elderly. Land is not visible in riverine Bengal, there is not enough logistics. The water is rising more. I know Bangladesh will overcome all these dire adversities and stand up with joy. But now shine a light on their fighting spirit in the unequal war with nature. They wanted justice for our daughter, we also have a responsibility towards them. Will we forget that?’
Srilekha shared this post on Facebook and wrote, ‘Bangladesh’. The actress gave a red love emoji on the side. As the post was shared by Srilekha, many people in India were saddened, and a large part gave smiley emojis. And Srilekha posted the screenshot of the people who gave the smiley emoji and wrote in the comment, ‘They got a smile after seeing this situation in Bangladesh. Karma bhai remember, even in your need, you will not have anyone by your side.’
