The Guadeloupe selection had a good performance by drawing a draw against Canada (2-2) on Tuesday evening when entering the Gold Cup.
Guadeloupe began their journey in the Gold Cup, a competition that brings together the best Concacaf selections, with a draw against Canada (2-2) on Tuesday in Toronto, a small feat obtained thanks to an equalizer in the additional time.
After opening the scoring by Thierry Ambrose in the 23rd minute, Jocelyn Angloma’s players conceded the equalizer after the break, on a goal from Tijuana (Mexico) striker Lucas Cavallini (1-1, 48th).
The Canadians then took the lead on an own goal from Guadeloupe defender Meddy Lina in the 70th minute. But, at the end of additional time, Canada, in turn, conceded a “csc” by striker Jacen Russell-Rowe (2-2, 90 + 4).
In the other match of group D, in Fort Lauderdale (Florida), Guatemala got the better of Cuba (1-0), and therefore found themselves at the top of the group.
During the second day on Saturday, in Houston (Texas), Guadeloupe will face Cuba while Canada will face Guatemala.
On Monday, Martinique (group C) had started with a victory (2-1) against El Salvador. They will face Panama in New Jersey on Friday.
