Strautmanis took 21st place in shooting with an air pistol at a distance of ten meters at the Paris Olympic Games in Chateauroux on Saturday. The Latvian athlete shot 572 points, reaching the result of 96, 93, 96, 95, 96 and 96 points in separate series and ranking 21st in the competition of 33 shooters.
“At least five points were missing from the final. The concentration was not the best and the sense of responsibility made itself felt. There were a lot of close scores – 9.9. The small mistakes this time paid off,” the shooter concluded.
“Everyone is waiting for the result, because they know you can. But a lot is determined by the psychological state. According to my feelings, everything was fine, but somewhere I lost my concentration and I couldn’t gather myself,” continued Strautmanis.
Together with Agati Rashmani, he will also compete in the duet competition.
“It’s an important start. We’ll discuss what and how with Agati. I won’t force her to show everything from myself as much as possible. We’ll definitely start, but then we’ll see how it goes,” said Strautmanis.
The Olympic Games will be held in the French capital until August 11.
