Human Rights Watch (HRW) reported that Abdullo Shamsid, who was deported from Germany, was sentenced to seven years in prison.

The Tajik authorities did not provide information about the trial of Abdullo Shamsiddin, the son of opposition leader Shamsiddin Saidov. However, HRW notes that the opposition’s son was accused of “calling for forceful changes to the constitutional structure of Tajikistan.”

Previously, publications that cooperated with the Tajik opposition reported that Abdullo Shamsid was sentenced to seven years. Azda TV channel reported that the verdict was issued on March 28. During the trial, he admitted that he “liked” an opinion on a social network and participated in a protest.

Abdullo’s father Shamsiddin Saidov, who lives in one of the European countries, confirmed the information about his son’s conviction.

“Rahmon’s regime killed my father, sentenced me to 15 years, and now sentenced my son Abdullah to seven years,” he said.

32-year-old Abdullo Shamsid, who has lived in Germany since 2009, was deported to his homeland on January 18. The reason for this was that he did not register with the German migration service at the time.
