Resumes with grammatical errors are rejected by every second recruiter

Half of employers refuse to hire someone who makes grammatical errors on their resume. If we are not talking about “eye” slips, and about obvious violations of the rules of the Russian language, the candidate for the position should remember the school lessons.

A large employment company conducted a study that showed that every sixth employer considers mistakes in the resume of all potential employees unacceptable. Such candidates are not even considered. The highest rejection rate for illiterate candidates is observed in banks (24%) and in information technology companies (22%).

A third of executives only err on the part of people taking jobs where literacy is not required. The rest of the workers, in the opinion of their superiors, should know Russian by a solid “five”. These include top managers, secretaries, copywriters, editors. With errors in the resume, it is difficult to find a job for builders, accountants, engineers, PR specialists and lawyers.

“I myself have been recruiting for a long time, so I perfectly understand the leaders who categorically refuse illiterate workers,” says psychologist Lyubov Izvarova. – In our society, for some reason, the conviction has developed that if you pay a salary, glue wallpaper or ensure the interaction of your ward with the public, then knowledge of the elementary rules is not necessary. By no means are people who make mistakes in writing, all the more they will not be able to present themselves correctly when communicating with clients. This means that the company will lose money.
