Selim Olivier, born Fourniret, had even obtained the right to change his name, he who had to carry since his birth the too heavy heritage of being the son of one of the most chilling criminal couples in history.
Since this Sunday July 2 in the morning, Selim Olivier has been in police custody in Nice (Alpes-Maritimes) for “attempted rape”. The charges against him took place in an elevator and the victim was a 16-year-old girl whom he allegedly tried to attack in circumstances that remain to be clarified, before fleeing and finally being arrested by public security police.
He who had nicknamed himself “the son of the ogre” in a book written by a journalist friend, to whom he had confided at length about his childhood, will now be heard by the investigators who would also have seized objects and searched his home.

Born in 1988, Selim Olivier had discovered the crimes of his father and then his mother in adolescence, when Michel Fourniret, first, then Monique Olivier, then, had been arrested, indicted and imprisoned. He was then barely 15 years old and had been entrusted to an uncle and then to his half-brother.
The investigation into the series of kidnappings, rapes and murders committed by his parents had made him discover their true faces, that of a father whom he remembered “who liked to push the song” and of a mother who stupefied herself in front of TV series and in particular “Julie Lescaut”.

Worse, the investigations and hearings had made it possible to understand that Selim had been used as bait by his parents during their hunts. Pregnant, Monique Olivier had thus approached in August 1988 the young Fabienne Leroy, 20, in a parking lot in Châlons-en-Champagne. The young woman was unsuspecting and had been kidnapped, raped and killed.
Once born, in his stroller, Selim was still used by his parents to approach prey. These episodes constituted an additional trauma for those who had decided to start a new life far from the Ardennes, under another name. The last time he had reacted was after the death of his father in April 2021. He said he was relieved.
