Their “garrison amphitheater”, the long-awaited moment, should take place on Wednesday, July 10. It is there, at the Sorbonne University, that one by one, the students of the access program a specific health (PASS) will have learned of their position in the tests. The former will have the upper hand over others in deciding their career choice: medicine, midwifery, odontology, pharmacy, physiotherapy or occupational therapy.
This year’s end meeting will take place, but a week later, the head of the health department has postponed the deadline to Monday 15 July. The fate of 1,400 PASS students has been suspended in part by the appeal of Bruno Riou, Dean, has just filed against the decision of the Paris administrative court. In the meantime, it is not possible to continue recruiting students.
On July 5, the judge suspended the execution of the license with access to health (L.AS). This license, newly created by the reform of access to health studies, in 2020, is, next to PASS, the second path of preparation for health studies. According to the judge, the board will, by this decision, unduly favor PASS students to the detriment of L.AS students while each way is to provide 217 places in medicine at the beginning of the 2024 school year.
“The judiciary is king”
At PASS, the program focuses on scientific studies, while at L.AS, a student of any degree follows an additional study at the medical school, which is “minor” in health.
By using the admission ratio of 70% for PASS and 30% for L.AS, the university thus excluded 48 students who found their places “not filled” and therefore transferred to PASS. This is the case of Marie (her first name has been changed), who reached 206th in the ranking. On June 10, during the training school “garrison” L.AS, he learned with surprise that he did not have a chance in medicine because the threshold of 12/20 was decided by the judges and that was a few tenths of a point, with your ranking, you can no longer join the complex.
“The number of students admitted from L.AS is much less than it should beprotested Me Marion Ogier, the lawyer for the fourteen students who appealed to the administrative court. And this benchmark score has not been provided by any authority, so it has no legal basis. » During the hearing before the judge on July 4, in addition to what he thought he was “manipulator” on the part of the teachers, he rose another “improper”with the lack of transparency on the scale of file tests and oral tests – points which must be judged on merits.
