The Southern Gas Corridor is a shining example of solidarity and cooperation.

As Day.Az reports with reference to Trend, this was stated by Deputy Minister of Energy of Bulgaria Iva Petrova during the 10th ministerial meeting of the Advisory Council on the Southern Gas Corridor and the 2nd ministerial meeting of the Advisory Council on Green Energy, held today in Baku

“The Southern Gas Corridor is a shining example of the solidarity and cooperation that comes from strong partnerships and shared responsibility,” she said.

The minister noted that achieving the energy transition is impossible without ensuring both national and international energy security. “This foundation must be built on strong regional solidarity and cooperation across green energy corridors,” she added.

Let us remind you that the 10th meeting of the Advisory Council on the Southern Gas Corridor (SGC) is taking place on March 1.

During the meeting, it is planned to sign a number of documents both on the expansion of the SGC and the inclusion of new participating countries in its composition, and on “green” energy projects.

A separate session is planned on green energy projects and a number of important agreements.

Let us note that the Southern Gas Corridor has been fully operational since December 2020 and supplies gas to Italy (over nine billion cubic meters per year), to Greece and Bulgaria – one billion cubic meters per year to each country.

In 2022, EU countries received 11.4 billion cubic meters of gas worth 15.6 billion euros.

In 2023, this volume reached 11.8 billion cubic meters of gas.
