On August 26, 2023, a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket sent a Crew Dragon spacecraft to the International Space Station (ISS). The spacecraft, called Endurance, departed with four astronauts on board: NASA’s Jasmin Moghbeli, ESA’s Andreas Mogensen, JAXA’s Satoshi Furukawa, and Roscosmos’ Konstantin Borisov, the four space agencies respectively from the United States, Europe, Japan, and Russia. .

The space launch took place from NASA Kennedy Space Center Launch Complex 39A in Florida, United States.

For Mogensen and Furukawa, this is their second spaceflight. Furukawa previously spent 165 days in space. Mogensen, 10.

For Moghbeli and Borisov, this is their first space trip.

On August 27, the Dragon Endurance Crew docked with the Harmony module of the International Space Station, while it was about 420 kilometers above the earth’s surface, flying over the Queensland area of ​​Australia.

The new tenants of the International Space Station bring the total number of residents to 11, adding to the 7 that were already there: Stephen Bowen, Woody Hoburg and Frank Rubio, from NASA; Sergey Prokopyev, Dmitri Petelin and Andrey Fedyaev, from Roscosmos; and Sultan Al Neyadi of the United Arab Emirates.

In a few days, Stephen Bowen, Woody Hoburg, Sultan Al Neyadi and Andrey Fedyaev of Crew-6 will return to Earth.

On board the International Space Station, Mogensen will work as a flight engineer on Expedition 69, and as a commander on Expedition 70. Moghbeli, Furukawa and Borisov will work as flight engineers on Expeditions 69 and 70.

Crew-7 astronauts will perform numerous science activities while aboard the station. Among them, it is worth highlighting the collection of microbe samples from outside the station, the study of some physiological aspects of the act of sleeping in space, and the analysis of the different human reactions to space flight depending on its duration.
