The Spanish Railways Foundation hosted yesterday the 1st Iberian Railway Day

The opening was in charge of the president of Puertos del Estado, Álvaro Rodríguez; the managing director of the Spanish Railways Foundation, Adrián Fernández Carrasco and representatives of Alianza Ibérica por el Ferrocarril.

After the opening of the conference, Cristina Arjona, from Greenpeace, made an initial presentation of the objectives of the alliance. Immediately afterwards, the block of topics for debate on the agenda began. The first of them focused on intermodality in the transport of goods. This analysis, moderated by Pau Noy, from the Mobilitat Sostenible i Segura foundation, included the participation of Fernando Ferrando, from Fundación Renovables; Isabel Núñez, from Transfesa Logistic; and Álvaro Rodríguez, president of Puertos del Estado.

In the second block of the day “The “regional trains”. The structuring of the territory in Spain and Portugal”, moderated by Josep Maria Olivé, Promotion of Public Transport; Rafael García Martínez intervened, from Comisiones Obreras; Imma Alemany, mayor of Camporrobles; João Dias Coelho, from Geota Portugal; and Emili Monsó, head of the Lleida-la Pobla de Segur FGC line.

Next, Luís Fernández, vice president of Mafex; Manuel Gómez Acosta, engineer; and Ignacio González Franco, head of the Exploitation Models and Studies area, Renfe; analyzed “The contribution of the Spanish railway industry” in a talk moderated by Jeremie Fosse, from Eco Union.

The last section focused on “cross-border, day and night trains”. This debate was moderated by Daniel Pi, Promotion of Public Transport; and Sylvain Fischer, from Oui au Train de Nuit; Acacio Pires, from Zero Portugal; and Daniel Vieites, from Sociedad Iberista.

The closing ceremony included the interventions of the president of Renfe, Raül Blanco, and the president of Adif, María Luisa Domínguez.
