On this occasion, Ms. Maalla M’jid had discussions in particular with the wali of the region of Dakhla-Oued Eddahab, governor of the province of Oued Eddahab, Lamine Benomar and the president of the Regional Council, El Khattat Yanja, during of which the emphasis was placed on the means capable of accelerating the implementation of the measures put in place for the protection of children and of undertaking tangible actions to preserve the rights of this category.
In a statement to M24, the MAP’s continuous news channel, Ms. Maalla M’jid indicated that this visit constitutes an opportunity to meet the various local child protection actors.
In this wake, she called for translating public policies in this area into concrete actions, insisting on the harmonization of national laws with Morocco’s international commitments.
The UN Representative also indicated that child protection is not dependent on a single sector, maintaining that this issue must be integrated into the framework of an overall social protection and national, regional and development policy. local.
During this visit, Ms. Maalla M’jid visited several child protection establishments, including the Lalla Amina Center for the care of children, the Dakhla center for autistic children and the association ” Al Amal Elmocherik for children with disabilities”, in addition to a preschool unit.
Likewise, she paid a visit to the headquarters of the CRDH, where she received presentations on the roles and responsibilities of the commission in matters of child protection in the region.
In addition to the cities of Rabat and Dakhla, the Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, responsible for the issue of violence against children, will also visit Tangier and Casablanca.
Note that these visits scheduled from November 20 to 25 are part of the consolidation of United Nations cooperation with the Kingdom of Morocco in the field of child protection.
