One of the most ancient rituals in Galicia, the bath of the nine waves in A Lanzada for women who want to have children, this year was a success after a change in its celebration. The bath of the nine waves is held every year on the last weekend of August, within the framework of the festivities of the Virgin of A Lanzada. It is part of an ancient fertility ritual, which also includes an offering to the virgin, sweeping behind the altar with a broom and listening to mass. The number of participating women varies from year to year, but on this occasion, the festival committee highlighted that there were many more than expected.
