The State Commission of Azerbaijan on Prisoners of War and Missing Persons has appealed to the population, Day.Az reports.

As noted, after the historic victory in the Patriotic War, the analysis of numerous appeals received by the State Commission of Azerbaijan on Captives and Missing Persons and relevant government agencies in connection with captives and missing persons, and citizens taken hostage, shows that a number of persons missing in the First Karabakh War as a result of Armenia’s military aggression against Azerbaijan were not included in the relevant registers.

“The reason may be that in the period after the First Karabakh War, the families of some missing persons did not apply to the State Commission for the official registration of their relatives. As of August 1, as a result of Armenia’s military aggression against Azerbaijan, 3,961 people were registered as missing. Of these, 3,953 people went missing in the First Karabakh War and 8 people went missing during the Patriotic War and the subsequent period. The fact that applications continue to be received gives reason to believe that this will not be the final statistics,” the State Commission said in a statement.

Taking into account the above, the State Commission asks the families of missing persons who are not registered and who have not provided DNA samples to identify their relatives, as well as citizens who have information about missing persons, to contact the working group as soon as possible and provide information about their missing relatives and submit DNA samples.
