The State Duma passed a law on the introduction of Fan IDs for attending sports events

The State Duma adopted in the third and final reading a bill on the introduction of a Fan ID from June 1, 2022 for access to sporting events. This is stated in the message of the lower house of parliament.

The bill was submitted to the State Duma by the government, it is amending the law “On physical culture and sports in the Russian Federation.” The government will have to determine the list of sporting events, which will require a FAN ID. The law is expected to enter into force on January 1, 2022.

“In these cases, the sale of entrance tickets or other documents granting the right to attend such competitions will be carried out in the presence of a valid personalized card and in compliance with the established procedure for identification and authentication,” the document says.

To obtain a Fan ID, you need to send an application through the “Gosuslug” portal. The grounds for refusal may be, for example, the presence of information that a fan or a tournament participant previously violated public order at a sporting event, including outside Russia, or information “about the intention to commit the corresponding illegal acts,” the State Duma said.
