THE STATE POLICE PROTAGONISTS AT THE 81ST VENICE FILM FESTIVAL WITH THE SHORT FILM “MEDLEY”

The screening of the short film “Medley”, a work by Santa de Santis and Alessandro D’Ambrosi, produced by Piuma Film and Vargo, was held at 10:00 on September 3, in Sala Tropicana 2, at the Italian Pavilion, as part of the 81st Venice International Film Festival organized by the Venice Biennale. The film starred Mariano Rigillo and Valerio Morigi and addressed profound themes such as memory, vulnerability and human connection, in an emotional journey that touched the heart.

“Medley” recounted the chance meeting between Dario, a young policeman, and Mariano, an elderly man suffering from Alzheimer’s. In this intense story, the two protagonists immersed themselves in the intertwining of their memories, offering a touching look at the power of imagination, empathy and the ability to listen. Through symbols and metaphors, the film was configured as an evocative and multifaceted experience, capable of prompting reflections on universal themes and the most fragile human experiences.

The film explored the correspondence between Dario and Mariano, who, although not related by blood, found in their bond an opportunity to deal with losses and regrets and to create a new memory, a temporary illusion capable of easing the pain of forgetfulness and loneliness.

“Medley” was not just a short film, but an important message of solidarity and mutual support. The State Police, in the realization of this project, underlined its commitment to the most vulnerable in society. In a world characterized by frenzy and isolation, the women and men of the State Police dedicated themselves daily to those, like the elderly and sick, who find themselves in situations of need, offering a listening ear and comfort to those seeking a human connection.

“Medley” was intended to be a hymn to solidarity and an invitation to reflection, highlighting the importance of closeness to those in difficulty and the social mission of the police force.
