Investing.com – Stocks in the United States closed mixed at the close of trading on Tuesday, as gains in the , and , sectors propelled the indexes higher. On the other hand, rate decreases were recorded in the , and sectors, leading the indexes down.

At the close of trading in New York, the index finished up by 0.01%, while the index weakened by 0.16%, and the index decreased by 0.59%.

Among the leading stocks in the index today, the Dow (NYSE: ) stood out, which added 2.32% or 1.15 points to its value, and its price was 50.65 at the close of trading. Meanwhile, American Express (NYSE: ) added 2.35% or 3.55 points to trade at 154.42, while Boeing (NYSE: ) added 2.03% or 3.49 points to trade at 175.32 in late trade.

The worst performance was registered by Apple (NASDAQ: ), which closed down 2.11% or 3.05 points, and traded at a price of 141.17 at the end of the trading day. Salesforce (NYSE: ) declined 1.31% or 2.01 points to 151.68 and Visa (NYSE: ) was down 1.04% or 2.20 points to 209.06.

The best performers today in the S&P 500 were Under Armor Class A (NYSE: ), which added 4.79% to 9.84, Celanese (NYSE: ), which added 4.75% to close at 105.56, and Polo Ralph Lauren (NYSE: :), which increased by 4.36% and finished trading at a price of 112.66.

Among the weakest stocks today were the shares of Illumina (NASDAQ:), which fell by 3.84% and stood at the end of the trading day at 208.57, the shares of PayPal Holdings (NASDAQ:), which lost 2.87% to the level of 77.64 and the shares of Enphase Energy (NASDAQ:), which weakened by 2.83% and closed the trading day on the stock exchange at a price of 303.39.

The best performers today in the NASDAQ index were Autonomy (NASDAQ:), which added 113.82% to its value at a price of 0.23, Apollo Endosurgery (NASDAQ:), which completed an increase of 67.83% and closed at a price of 10.07 and Onco-Sec Medical (NASDAQ: ), which rose 50.98% to end trading at a price of 3.85.

Among the weakest stocks today was Nyyat Digital Brands Group Inc (NASDAQ:)‎, which decreased by 34.17% and stood at the end of the trading day at 4.74, the share of Eqonex Ltd (NASDAQ:)‎, which lost 33.88% to the level of 0.09 and the share of Seko Holding (NASDAQ:), which weakened by 31.91% and signed at a price of 1.60 the trading day on the stock exchange.

The number of shares that closed higher exceeded the number of shares that closed lower in trading on the New York Stock Exchange with 1862 compared to 1240 respectively, with 112 remaining unchanged; In trading on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 1906 declined and 1833 gained, while 188 held their value.
