The second season of the fiction with Alessandro Gassmann will be broadcast with new episodes for six evenings starting from Thursday 23 November on Rai 1. Cast, plot and previews

The bell rings for Alessandro Gassmann and the cast of Un Professore 2, with the new season of the fiction set in the Leonardo Da Vinci high school in Rome arriving in prime time on Rai 1 starting from Thursday 23 November (here are the other upcoming series this week). There will be six appointments with Professor Dante, the atypical philosophy teacher who guides his students through educational, sentimental and existential difficulties, and there will be no shortage of surprises. The show, based on the Spanish original Merl by Hctor Lozano, will be directed by Alessandro Casale, who joins the project after the premature death of Alessandro D’Alatri.

A Professor 2: cast and previews

The well-known faces of the series return to the classroom, starting from the couple of teachers formed by Dante (Alessandro Gassmann) and Anita (Claudia Pandolfi) with their respective children, Simone (Nicolas Maupas) and Manuel (Damiano Gavino). With them we will find the characters of Laura, Luna and Matteo, but several new entries promise to be decidedly interesting: the aspiring footballer Rayan; Nina with a complicated family history; Viola, a disabled girl with an impetuous character; and Mimmo, entrusted to the school after a stay in juvenile prison. Another new entry is Nicola, Viola’s charming father, played by Thomas Trabacchi. Relationships between students will still be at the center of the series, with a particular focus on the relationship between Simone and Manuel which will give the show the opportunity to open up more to LGBTQA+ issues.

The story between Simone and Manuel

The friendship between Simone Manuel is one of the cornerstones of the first season and starting from there the series approached the theme of queer relationships. The kiss that upset the relationship between the two, together with Simone’s delicate coming out, represented an important moment for Italian serials (or, at least, for generalist ones). The director of Rai Fiction Maria Pia Ammirati confirmed that in the new episodes of A Professor there will be even more space for LGBTQ narrative lines, both through the characters of Simone and Manuel and with the introduction of bisexual characters.

The plot: trouble ahead for Dante

At the end of the first season, Dante and Anita lived peacefully together in their Roman villa together with their children, Simone and Manuel. The idyll, however, is about to end. In fact, Floriana, the professor’s ex-wife, returns to the city and temporarily settles under the same roof as Dante, creating a situation of foreseeable discomfort. Nicola, Viola’s father, reappears from Anita’s past and will help create havoc in a situation that is already in a precarious balance.

The disappearance of Alessandro D’Alatri

The direction of the first season of A Professor signed by director Alessandro D’Alatri, an author well known for his collaborations with Kim Rossi Stuart, with whom he filmed Senza pelle and Gardens of Eden, but also with Fabio Volo, for whom he got behind the camera in Case Mai and La Fever. The director died on May 3 and his place in the series was taken by Alessandro Casale. Casale made his name in the role of assistant director for big names such as Ferzan Ozpetek, Daniele Cipr, Francesca Comencini, Michele Soavi and Sergio Castellitto, making his solo debut with eight episodes of the third season of Everything can happen.

Leo Gassmann’s song

A gem in store for the viewers of A Professor 2 comes from the soundtrack. Leo Gassman, the son of Alessandro and Sabrina Knaflix, signs the main song of the new season, entitled Give me a kiss, Ja: a song that has been in the singer’s drawer for some time, waiting for a project that would best express his spirit. The piece was released last November 17th and contains all the suggestions of the series, including love, youth, Romanity and transformation, confirming Leo Gassman’s ability to marry music and narration.
