On this rainy Saturday morning Sierra of MadridI’ll write about something different. This blog talks about harmful drugs, household toxins, healthy and unhealthy diet, etc. But this was written by the family doctor Sara Yebra Delgadoit inspired me a lot: Loneliness caused by independence and freedom of thought.
It starts like this:
In any health center… someone starts thinking. You start to think about, for example, the pharmaceutical industry. He informs himself, asks questions, reads, reviews his commitment to the profession and makes a difficult decision: not to receive any more visitors. She is the only person among her classmates and begins to feel alone… «When you leave the system, you’re marginalized and you’re like a weirdo» (Roberto Colino).
Yebra asks: Why freedom of thought can cause loneliness and quotes the erase culture which consists – he says and, rightly, I certify – in withdrawing support (be it moral, financial, digital and even social) from people or organizations considered ineligible for actions or comments.
Yebra continues to say that humans have a social skin and we need others. The fear of rejection produces self-censorship.
Social shame – explains the Spanish philosopher Adela Cortina– causes that, even if people clearly see that something is wrong, they remain silent if public opinion is against it.
THE freedom It is the very heartbeat of humanity, the spark that drives us to question, explore and expand our horizons.
Silence in the face of injustice is anti-freedomthe prelude to any type of totalitarianism. It is convenient for the powerful social silenceand looks for it.
An example: during the last pandemic to us who question the official theses, and in my specific case, above all, when we publish on Vaccines against covid-19we were censored on social networks. AS? Him Facebook Ministry of TruthI continually decided that my publications (which even some of my critics consider generally accurate) were “limited” with the excuse of not being true hahaha…
…but it turns out that most of them came from official sources like the Spanish Medicines Agency hahaha
The nonconformist rebellion
We are told that we live in the freest world possible, but we are very controlled. Thirst nonconformistsit is always worth rebelling against unjust rules and one’s own injustices. Overcoming social fearand prejudices. Be the song of freedom we need. The voice of those who cannot speak or of those who have been silenced in a bad way.
It is imperative that we stand up, that we claim our right to think critically and challenge what is established. Each of us is a beacon of potential and creativity that deserves to shine without restriction.
We live in a world where the voice of the people over that of the powers that be, be they governments or business conglomerates, should be the most powerful, but is often drowned under the weight of conformism and fear of what is established, of what others will say.
They couldn’t silence meand what I keep thinking is that we need a rallying cry authenticity and the autonomy of the individual. Disdain the mediocrity and vulgarity. Defend values and ideals.
Every person has the fundamental right to decide about your lifeyour thoughts and actions. This principle is essential in a world that often tries to adapt individuals to predetermined fashions or norms (almost always commercial, even if even ideological).
Diversity of thought is the engine of progress and respect for individual freedom is the key to building a lively and dynamic company.
Being critical of the established is not an act of causeless rebellion, but rather an exercise in responsibility. Questioning what surrounds us allows us to do this grow and evolve as a collective. Every great advance in history has been preceded by those who dared to challenge social beliefs.
With this statement, many dissidents who preceded us shook the foundations of traditional thought search for truth It’s more important than blind adherence to regulations.
THE freedom of thought It’s sacred. It gives us the ability to imagine the impossible, to dream big and to propose alternatives which could, at some point, become our reality.
Accept mediocrity in the name of social peace It is a betrayal of our essence as human beings. We must cultivate a space where dissent is welcome, where ideas can be debated and where every voice, even the most discordant, finds its place.
THE defense of freedom It is a collective task, an effort that requires courage and passion. We cannot allow fear or complacency to cloud ours ability to dream and be critical.
