The director says that it has nothing to do with Madhavan’s short story ‘Higvita’. Hemant’s response was in an interview given to Mathrubhumi.
‘N.S. The film has nothing to do with Madhavan’s short story Higuita. This movie is a political thriller set in Kannur. The film tells the story of a policeman named Ayyappadas, a native of Punnapra, who comes to Kannur from Alappuzha, and Pannyannur Mukundan, a fiery political leader in Kannur. Dhyan Srinivasan plays Ayyappadas and Suraj Venjarammudu plays Mukundan. The theme of the film is the scenes that Ayyappadas, who comes as Mukundan’s gunman, sees and the crises he faces,’ said Hemant.
Hemant says that the name Higuita came from football. This film is produced by Second Half Production House, which is joined by Bobby Taryan and Sajith Amma. When I thought of their name Second Half, football came to mind. Like the game in the second half of football, the name of Higuita, the Colombian goalie, stuck somewhere. That’s how we named this movie Higuita. The title poster of the movie which started in 2019 was announced on November 8 at 8 pm by eight people namely Prithviraj, Kunchacko Boban, Dulquer Salmaan, Indrajith, Tovino Thomas, Soubin Shahir and Sunnyvane. Hemant added that the film was completed by the end of 2022, which was delayed due to the Covid lockdown.
Manoj K. Jayan, Indrans, Jafar Idukki, Vineet Kumar, Mamukoya, Abu Salim, Givadas Kannur, Jyoti Kannur, Shivdas Mattanur, and many other newcomers are lining up in Higvita.
