BENGALURU- The State Transport Employees Union has announced that they will go on an indefinite strike from March 1 due to non-fulfilment of their demands.

Last month, the State Road Transport Employees Union, which had planned to hold a protest to press for various demands, was pacified by the government and invited to return to work. They also returned to work.

The recent interim budget did not mention the demands of the transport workers. Due to this, the people are angry.

In this regard, a statement issued by the State Road Transport Employees Union:

In December 2020, under the 6th Pay Commission, the government had given written assurance to fulfill our demands. However, our demands were not met. False cases have been filed against our employees and their families.

During the protest in Belagavi in December last year, Transport Minister Sriramulu had assured that steps would be taken to fulfill the demands of the transport workers in the Seventh Pay Commission.

1.07 lakh employees have suffered due to the action of the government. So, we will start our indefinite protest on 1st March at Independence Park, Bengaluru.
