The storm will rage the most on the coast of the Gulf of Riga in Tukuma district, as well as in Jūrmala, Mārupe district, Riga and Ādažu district in the period from late Sunday evening to Monday morning. North, NW winds will slow down but remain gusty Monday afternoon.

On the coast of the Gulf of Riga, the wind speed in gusts can reach 30 meters per second, further from the sea in southwest Vidzeme and Zemgale, gusts of up to 22-27 meters per second are expected in many places. In the eastern regions of Latvia, as well as in a large part of Kurzeme, the wind will be much slower and will not cause significant damage.

Most of the precipitation is expected until Monday morning, although some parts of the country will also see heavy rain during the day on Monday. The heaviest rains are predicted in Tukuma, Dobele, Jelgava county and the western part of Bauska county, as well as in Jūrmala, Riga and Pierīga – in Mārupe, Olaine, Ķekava, Salaspils, Ropažu and Ādažu counties.

In the mentioned territory, there will be more than 100 millimeters of precipitation in many places, in some places the amount of rain can reach up to 200 millimeters, or about 30% of the annual norm. Flooding of low-lying areas is expected and widespread flooding is possible, which in some places may be the largest on record.

The least rain is predicted in Latgale, Selia and the south-eastern part of Vidzeme. It is expected that the amount of precipitation will not exceed 20-40 millimeters and there will be no flooding in this region.

It has already been reported that due to the expected very strong rain and wind, the Center for Environment, Geology and Meteorology of Latvia has announced two red or highest level warnings in the central part of the country.
