With new general assemblies and direction to continue the struggle, despite the passing of the law on private universities, the students of the University of Ioannina continue their actions, holding a new rally on Thursday at 12 noon in the Region of Epirus.

At the same time, they are proceeding with a protest at the rector’s office on Friday at 12 noon and are planning a pan-Hellenic Day of Action for free student care in the next period.
“We know that the struggle we are fighting requires endurance and duration, the University has a goal and a perspective that keeps pace with the possibilities of our time and social needs. That is why our struggle did not start yesterday nor will it end tomorrow. It will continue with all forms and demands, through small and large battles, drawing strength from our right and from every news and news that does not compromise. Over the years, many have tried to “disentangle” themselves from the student movement, but they have not succeeded. We received the competitive baton from the previous generations and we will hand it over to the next, proud of our competitions and sure that the victory will be the students’, emphasizes the pan-Hellenic coordinator of the student associations.
Among the students’ demands are exclusively public and truly free studies, the non-implementation of the law on private universities and the revision of Article 16, an increase in state funding for the needs of students and institutions in teachers, staff, infrastructure, free student care and the construction of new student residences under the responsibility of the state without PPP and rents, degrees with reserved professional rights, compulsory examination for all students in all Departments. Also, students say “no” to mergers in the humanities, to the full handing over of research to private individuals, to undergraduate tuition fees, to the removal of pedagogical competence and to PPPs in clubs and residences.
