The head of the Iraqi Central Football Association, Adnan Darjal, confirmed that the Iraqi Premier League for the previous season achieved great success, indicating that this success was positively reflected on the level of the national team in the preliminary qualifiers for the World Cup.

“The Iraqi Football Association has proven its success in holding the Iraqi Premier League from all technical and organizational aspects,” Darjal told the (INA) on Wednesday, noting that “the previous season’s schedule was carried out in a smooth and continuous manner that previous leagues were not accustomed to, as well as the introduction of VAR technology and television broadcasting, which has become at a completely different level and is developing from one round to another in a way that has won the admiration of specialists and the public.”

Darjal added, “The organizational aspect was distinguished through the implementation of the licensing regulations, through which our league became among the top five leagues at the Asian level. The league also rose to seventh place with its distinguished public presence, technical level, and security organization, outperforming important leagues in the region.”

Darjal pointed out that “the greatest success achieved by the Federation is the reflection of the league’s level on the national team’s level by obtaining full points in the preliminary qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.”
