Today, Friday, the Preliminary Committee of the Sudan Doctors Syndicate announced its rejection of any armed military presence inside civilian medical institutions, which have been operating with less capacity since the beginning of the war on April 15.

The committee said, in a statement, that “the military presence inside the medical institutions, or building outside them, or using them as platforms for bombing leads to completely stopping the service, but rather turns it into a battlefield, which exposes medical personnel and patients to the risk of death alike.”

She added, “We affirm our professionalism and justice in treating citizens, and we receive and treat the wounded and injured from the two conflicting parties, and we do not allow any of them to interfere in the medical professional decision.”

And the committee continued, “This armed military presence makes patients, our medical staff, and all volunteers in medical institutions vulnerable to the fire of conflict, which leads to the evacuation of the institution and its cessation of providing service, and this happened several times during this absurd and damned war.”

This comes while the Rapid Support Forces in Sudan, one of the two fighting parties in Sudan, announced at dawn today, Friday, the extension of the armistice period for an additional 72 hours, in response to US-Saudi mediation.

And she said on Twitter, “We announce the extension of the armistice period for an additional 72 hours, in order to open humanitarian corridors, facilitate the movement of citizens and residents, and enable them to fulfill their needs and reach safe areas.”
