The summer school for ecologists will take place in Le Havre at the end of August

“You shouldn’t see a political sign there,” jokes an ecologist. The traditional Summer Days of Ecologists (JDE) will be organized this summer in Le Havre, the city of Seine-Maritime of which the former Prime Minister Édouard Philippe is mayor. These universities, very popular with activists of the movement, will take place on August 24, 25 and 26 at the Carré des Docks, the convention center and performance venue of the port city.

The last two editions took place in ecological cities: in Poitiers in 2021 and Grenoble in 2022. “In fact, there are not so many cities that can accommodate our thing, we need rooms, hotel capacity . Local activists were therefore candidates… ”explains an environmentalist executive. The last summer stopover of the Greens in Normandy dates back to 2006 when their summer universities were organized in Coutances (Manche).

“A great list of guests that will give pride of place to civil society”

We do not yet know the program or the list of speakers. Like last year, “Nupe moments” will be organized, with the arrival of figures from the left-wing coalition. On the side of the management of EELV, we promise “a beautiful list of guests which will give pride of place to civil society, in the continuity of the desired opening within the framework of the general states of ecology” launched in February by the new national secretary of Europe Ecology – the Greens (EELV) Marine Tondelier, elected last December.

The number one of the environmentalist party then explained that she wanted to “refound a new great movement of political ecology” and aim for one million sympathizers by 2027. An ambitious objective for a movement which today has just over 11,000 activists.
